Security Built Around How Parking Garages Operate
Parking garages have a security challenge that most buildings do not: people and vehicles constantly change roles and direction. Drivers enter, park, become pedestrians, move toward stairwells or elevators, and often continue into an attached office, residential, medical, retail, or mixed-use property. Open levels, concrete columns, multiple access points, and long operating hours can make activity harder to follow.
A strong parking garage security plan connects the places where movement changes. Access control can restrict pedestrian entry into connected buildings and service areas. Cameras improve visibility across vehicle entrances, ramps, walkways, elevator approaches, and other key routes. Commercial doors, frames, locks, and hardware help keep controlled openings secure and working properly.
That coordinated approach gives property teams better control over who can enter restricted areas, clearer visibility when an incident needs review, and more dependable access points throughout the garage.
Parking Garage Security Services
Security services designed around access, visibility, and high-use garage openings.

Parking Garage Access Control
Control pedestrian entry between the garage and connected buildings, stairwell doors, staff areas, and restricted rooms. Permissions can be updated as tenants, employees, vendors, or operating needs change.

Commercial Alarm Systems
Add intrusion detection to offices, service rooms, storage areas, and other enclosed spaces within or connected to the garage. Alerts help property teams respond when protected areas are accessed unexpectedly.

Garage Security Cameras
Improve visibility at vehicle entrances, ramps, pedestrian routes, elevator approaches, and other key areas. Recorded video gives property teams useful context when they need to review activity or investigate an incident.

Parking Garage Intercoms
Clear communication at gates, office areas, parking zones, service entries, and restricted spaces helps keep operations moving smoothly.

Commercial Doors & Hardware
Secure high-use garage openings with commercial doors, frames, closers, locks, panic hardware, and related components selected to work together for dependable closing, latching, and daily operation.

High-Security Locks
Protect mechanical rooms, maintenance spaces, storage areas, offices, and other restricted doors with commercial locking solutions designed for stronger key control and dependable access where electronic credentials may not be necessary.
BUILT FOR GARAGE OPERATIONS
Different Garage Areas Need Different Security
A parking garage can contain public parking areas, tenant-only routes, staff spaces, building connections, and rooms that should never be open to general traffic. The right security approach changes by location. A camera may be the priority along a vehicle route, while a stairwell door may need access control, dependable locking hardware, or repair to close correctly. Goldy Locks can address those different needs as part of one coordinated property plan.
- Pedestrian access doors
- Elevator lobby entrances
- Connected building entries
- Vehicle entry and exit views
- Mechanical and electrical rooms
- Maintenance and storage rooms
- Emergency exit doors
PROJECT SPOTLIGHT
Chicago Skyway Parking Garage Door Replacement
Parking garage doors deal with frequent use, exposure to changing temperatures, and constant movement through the facility. At the Chicago Skyway Parking Garage, several doors needed to be replaced so access points throughout the structure could continue serving the demands of daily operation.
Goldy Locks replaced multiple commercial doors within the garage. The work focused on restoring durable, dependable openings at locations where door condition directly affected how the facility could be secured and used.
For a parking structure, door replacement is more than a cosmetic improvement. A worn or damaged door can affect closing, latching, locking, and the performance of the hardware attached to it. Replacing deteriorated openings helps return those access points to reliable operation and gives the property a stronger foundation for the locks, hardware, and other security measures used around them.
The Chicago Skyway project is a practical example of addressing garage security at the opening itself, where everyday use and physical protection meet.
